Pre-Requisite Notes For Getting Started On The Pilates Equipment
There is a pre-requisite of 3 private sessions before you may join a small group equipment class. We have found that familiarity and understanding of the spring settings and a basic grasp of the exercises, proper body alignment, and correct form greatly enhance the results of a Pilates practice.
Our New Client Introductory package is a great way to get started. These sessions provide an orientation to Pilates on the mat and Pilates equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs). If you have satisfied this pre-requisite elsewhere we will help to schedule you into a class that fits your needs.
I. Pilates Equipment Sessions
We offer Pilates equipment training in three different formats: Private, semi-private, and small group classes.
Private sessions are designed to deliver individualized instruction based on a person’s fitness needs, goals, and schedule. Clients may choose to do the entire workout on the mat or on the specialized Pilates equipment. New clients are encouraged to start with our discounted introductory package of 4 private sessions.
When two students share a workout we refer to it as a semi-private session. These sessions are similar to privates in that you and your workout partner receive more personalized attention than you would in a small group equipment class. It is a fun and healthy way to spend time with a friend or loved one.
SMALL GROUP EQUIPMENT CLASSES (3-5 students)
Small group equipment classes utilize the primary Pilates apparatus: reformers, towers, and chairs. The spring resistance of this specialized equipment provides a challenging, bone strengthening endurance workout. Best of all, the equipment is easily customizable for the user which allows individuals to work at an appropriate fitness level. Visible results can be seen after a dozen or so regular sessions. If you are new to the Pilates equipment we suggest that you take a few private sessions to learn the basics before you get started in a group class. Advanced registration required.
Pilates mat classes focus on developing core strength, flexibility, balance and stamina. The instructor presents the exercises at multiple levels which allows students to choose to work at a beginning, intermediate, or advanced pace. Students learn to be aware of breathing patterns and spinal alignment while engaging the deep muscles of the core. Various props (e.g. flex bands, foam rollers, rings, light weights, and balls) are incorporated to enhance and intensify the workout. No previous Pilates experience is necessary to join a mat class. 3.) Booty Barre® Classes
This class is the perfect blend of deep muscle toning, stretching, balancing, and cardio vascular intervals guaranteed to pump up your heart rate and burn fat! Booty Barre® incorporates the fluidity of ballet, the flexibility of yoga, and the core strengthening of Pilates. It is a structured, easy-to-follow total body workout. This low impact workout combines light weights with other props to ensure you get a challenging workout every time! And best of all—NO DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! All fitness levels welcome.
